Scottish Youth Team 2022 - February Training
The Scottish Youth team attended their annual training weekend at Forbes of Kingennie, staying in the North & South lodges. Youths from all over Scotland attended for a full programme of seminars, presentations, and practice sessions over the two days to assist preparation in their quest for gold in Ireland in July 2022.
Angus Robertson (Team Captain) got the weekend activities underway with a meet and greet of team members. Fishery Manager Paul Pratt also attended to meet the team at the lodges and helped make the teams stay over the weekend a great success. Presentations during the Saturday were delivered by current team members Andrew Adams and Angus Robertson as well as committee members James Litster, Kirk Lyon and Alisdair Mair. The team enjoyed the hospitality of the restaurant over the two days and were welcomed by very helpful staff who catered to all the team’s needs and dietary requirements during the stay.
On Sunday the team took to the Bankhouse pond for a friendly competition. On arrival at the pond it was discovered areas were partly frozen. The committee quickly got to work to make sure as many pegs were open for the team to get started. Straight away some of the team steadily caught fish. The pond soon became ice free before the team broke for lunch where tactics were enthusiastically discussed leading to some of the team improving on their catches in the afternoon. A total of 142 fish were landed and safely returned. Fishery manager Paul had decided he would kindly put up some prizes, and so random peg numbers were drawn to decide prizewinners at the end of the day, this was greatly appreciated by the whole team. Captain Angus Robertson gathered the team to thank all the staff that helped make their stay a very enjoyable and memorable one at Kingennie.
